VC + Beta Carotene can Prevent Dementia?

A new study in Germany Ulm University suggests intake of antioxidant vitamins C and beta carotene lower the crowd will have higher mild dementia risk.

In the cross selection study, the researchers recruited 74 alzheimer's disease patients and 158 healthy adults. The age of the participants were ranged from 65 to 90. They accepted the psychological test and they can answer questions related to way of life. They were also tested the blood samples and the body fat index.

Through contrast analysis, the researchers noticed that blood vitamin C and beta carotene content of alzheimer's disease patients are significantly lower than those of the contrast group, and vitamin E, but there is no obvious difference on lycopene and coenzyme Q10 and other antioxidants contents between them. At the same time, researchers also noticed that the potential risk factors of alzheimer's disease includes education, citizenship, BMI, bad habits such as smoking and drinking. Thus, more studies should be done to progress the view.
